Who writes the courses

Written by a practicing bridge PE

Most bridge PDH online is a repackaged public FHWA manual. Ours are written from real inspection and load-rating work, with worked examples and the judgment calls you actually face.

About the instructor
Michael Craig, PE is Senior Vice President and Southeast Director at Strinteg Corporation, leading bridge inspection and structural engineering across eight states and Puerto Rico. In 27+ years he has inspected over 4,000 structures and completed 3,000+ load ratings and 160+ load tests. He has managed repair and preservation design for complex bridges, including cable-stayed bridges. He holds PE licenses in twelve states, DC and Puerto Rico, SPRAT Level 1, and FAA Part 107 credentials.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are the courses free for state DOT employees?

Yes, for DOT staff in SC, NC, GA, AL, TN, VA, KY, MS, WV, AR, LA, TX. Those are states where our PE board research (Oct 2026) found no provider pre-approval requirement, so the licensee can claim the hours directly, subject to audit. We do not offer the program in states that require approved providers (for example Florida, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, New York). Not limited to licensed engineers. Accounts are verified by agency email domain.

Which agency email domains qualify?

SCDOT (scdot.org); NCDOT (ncdot.gov); GDOT (dot.ga.gov); ALDOT (dot.state.al.us, aldot.gov); TDOT (tn.gov); VDOT (vdot.virginia.gov); KYTC (ky.gov); MDOT (mdot.ms.gov); WVDOH (wv.gov); ARDOT (ardot.gov); LADOTD (la.gov); TxDOT (txdot.gov). States that share one email domain across all agencies may need an extra agency check. Texas note: keep your certificate, since TBPELS counts undocumented self-study as at most 5 PDH per renewal.

Is accepting free training OK under my agency's ethics rules?

State DOT employees should follow their agency's ethics and gift rules; check with your agency ethics officer if unsure. The program is offered to all DOT staff equally and is not tied to any contract or procurement.

Can I download the course text?

Yes. Every course and lesson page has a "Download study guide (PDF)" button with the full lesson text, takeaways and references (quiz not included).
